SMUD Retrocommissioning Program

Thank you for your interest in the SMUD Retrocommissioning (RCx) Program. The SMUD RCx Program has experienced an overwhelming demand for retrocommissioning incentive dollars over the past year. As a result of this demand, the program pipeline is now full and all RCx incentives have been committed. In anticipation of future funding, SMUD is establishing a waiting list for RCx projects. To be placed on the waiting list, please contact your SMUD Account Manager or contact the program at smudrcx@peci.org.

Thank you again for your interest in saving energy through retrocommissioning. The SMUD RCx Program can save Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) commercial customers 5-20% on their energy bills.

Through the Program, experienced engineers work closely with you and your staff to find cost-effective ways to optimize your building’s performance, lower energy bills, and improve occupant comfort.

Participants in the SMUD RCx Program can receive:

  • A free building screening
  • A customized investigation of building operations
  • Incentives for energy-saving improvements
  • Documentation and training on improvements
  • Pre- and post-project EPA Energy Performance Rating (ENERGY STAR® benchmark)

RCx increases profitability by:

  • Reducing operating expenses
  • Increasing net operating income (NOI)
  • Providing quicker returns on investment
  • Increasing appraised building value

This website provides the basic information on how retrocommissioning (RCx) can help you improve your bottom line, what to expect as a participant in the Program, and what Program incentives you might be eligible for as a SMUD customer.
